WWII Memorial
Day of Honor is a documentary which showcases Honor Flight Chicago and the journey of 93 WWII veterans to our nation's capital. This exclusive presentation is only available with Xfinity TV from Comcast.
A Day of Honor
Our surviving veterans of world war II are truly deserving of this day, a day they will remember for the rest of their lives. A true day of honor.
At the Gate
At Midway Airport, the veterans begin to arrive at the gate for departure to our nation's capitol.
Arrival at Dulles
The Honor Flight approaches Dulles International Airport on schedule at 8:30am and touches down to the applause of everyone on board. Although their stay in our nation’s capital will be brief, it will be filled with numerous displays of respect that is only fitting of an American hero.
Mail Call
Shortly before landing back at Midway Airport in Chicago, the quiet return flight is interrupted and the veterans are as asked a simple question… “What was the one thing you most looked forward to upon returning to base after your field patrol?” Without hesitation, the words “MAIL CALL” are heard.
Midway Arrival
As the vets make their way down the elevator to baggage claim the air is filled with the roar of the thousands of people, friends, family, and members of the public...all of whom have come out to welcome the vets home.
WWII Memorial
They gaze over the monument for only a short time, before all 93 veterans begin to gather at the memorials center for a ceremony to honor their departed comrades.
